“Invisible” orthodontics is a treatment used to align the teeth and improve occlusion. It is carried out with clear trays that cover all the teeth and are called aligners. The treatment plan is created digitally in our clinic using three-dimensional computer imaging.
How does it work?
As with every orthodontic treatment, photographs and X-rays of the upper and lower dentition are taken. The three-dimensional scan of the teeth is uploaded to the specialised software used as part of the alignment process.
The treatment is then carefully planned and reviewed by a specialist orthodontist. Once the planning has been completed, a set of customised aligners is manufactured according to the treatment plan. Each aligner is worn for 1–2 weeks, for 23 hours per day, gradually moving the teeth closer to the final result.
At the end of the scheduled treatment period, an assessment is carried out by the specialist orthodontist. If the result has not been perfected, the patient may need to use some additional aligners for a few weeks, with no extra charge.
Advantages
- You can eat whatever you want; you simply remove the aligners during meals.
- The aligners are transparent and almost invisible.
- They are comfortable and do not irritate your lips or cheeks, unlike traditional braces.
- Because the aligners are changed every week, the forces applied to your teeth are distributed more evenly and there is no pain.
- Brushing and flossing can be carried out normally; you simply remove the aligners.
Are there any limitations?
Compliance is key. You must wear the aligners for 23 hours per day so that the treatment results can be achieved properly.
